Conishead Priory is in Ulverston. Within the grounds of the Priory are some stunning woods leading down to the beach overlooking Morecambe Bay and across to Lancashire, and a Buddhist Temple. Parking is free and the Priory has granted access to the woods and beach to the general public. It’s a very peaceful place with gardens, a cafe, and the woods which hold a wide variety of trees and wildlife. We had the added bonus of the snowdrops and daffodils being out because of the time of year.
We were lucky enough to get another sunny, cold and dry day so we headed down there for a little micro adventure and walk.
In the woods you’ll find small brooks and a pet cemetary. The woods have clear defined paths suitable for children and pushchairs, and lead you straight down to a pebble beach. We saw a variety of birds and the kids loved looking at all the different sizes and types of tree. It was only a quick walk just to get some fresh air but it’s a lovely place and I feel so lucky that it is so close by.
